idwheelIf you know someone who has tendencies that lean towards a combination of Sunshine Yellow and Earth Green energy, you have a Helper in your life.  This second blog in my series of eight on the Eight Primary Insights Types is on the Helper type. 

Helpers make great team members because of their love of people, sociability, and their inner drive to relate to others.  Helpers crave harmonious and positive relationships at work and do this through encouraging coworkers.  A Helper would never fail to relate to a dejected colleague as they display a sincere loyalty towards people they know and things they care about.  Thriving on security, Helpers do well in environments that are steady and allow them to do work at their own pace.  As the name might suggest, Helpers tend to take on a heavy workload without sharing their true feelings.  In other words, if a Helper is on the verge of becoming overwhelmed from a pile of work, they will agree to take on more if they believe it will help you out.  Amazingly, they’ll also find the time to get it done!  Make your Helper feel valued by showing appreciation and listening to their problems.  Helpers know and seek out life’s little pleasures, share in them with the Helper you know and you will find a new connection.  Let the Helper you know they are important to you by looking them in the eyes when you talk to them.  Helpers like to relate to other people.  Eye contact helps them read your true emotions so they can empathize and know when to jump in and help when necessary.  Helpers make great counselors and members to any team as they can keep arguments to a minimum and help keep projects on track by making sure everyone is on the same page.  Encourage the Helper in your organization and watch them shine when you reciprocate their help!
